Blackbird Knife in Oregon hardwood + brass
A handy cutter, best for slab cutting or box/letter opening. A palm held knife meant to cut quickly through a variety of materials. The largest of the bird knives.
The hammering done to the surface of this brass blade is not only aesthetically pleasing, it hardens the brass to withstand gentle bending as it’s used. The texture will also allow a uniquely patterned patina to develop over time — which we think makes the tool even more special.
3 1/4” from tip of blade to base x 1 3/4” wide at the longest point x 1/2” thick
Choose from:
Black Walnut
Torched Black Walnut (Please note: Torched surface will wear down with use and may transfer color to light clay bodies. Not recommended for porcelain.)
Ray Oak
Wipe clean after use. Once fully dry, re-apply oil as needed to preserve wood and maintain luster.

Each of our wooden items are made from fallen or salvaged Oregon hardwood. This means every piece is entirely individual, bearing its own unique figuring, knots, texture, and grain. Each slab of wood that a knife is cut from is handpicked to assure durability, is clay ready and completely your own—No two are exactly alike.
